New iPhones Have Faster Chips, Better Cameras

Apple has unveiled its next generation of iPhones, a lineup featuring improved cameras, faster processors, a new charging system, and a price increase for the fanciest model, as reported by Michael Liedtke for the Associated Press (AP).

The presentation took place at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California, as the company aims to reverse a mild sales slump that has seen its revenue decline in three consecutive quarters compared to the previous year.

This decline has contributed to Apple's stock price dropping by about 10% since mid-July, pushing the company's market value below the $3 trillion threshold it achieved earlier this summer.

Investors didn't appear overly impressed with Apple's Tuesday announcement. The company's shares fell nearly 2% on Tuesday, a larger decline than the major market indexes.

Like other smartphone manufacturers, Apple's four iPhone 15 models don't introduce major technological leaps.

However, Apple has added enough new features to the top-of-the-line model, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, to raise its starting price by $100, or 9%, compared to last year's version, bringing it to $1,200.

As part of this higher base price, the cheapest iPhone 15 Pro Max will offer 256 megabytes of storage, up from the previous 128 megabytes in the least expensive version of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
