New Photos Show Widespread Damage at U.S. Bases After Iranian Attacks

New photos obtained exclusively by CBS News show extensive damage to buildings, vehicles and military equipment at several US positions in the Middle East following Iranian missile and drone attacks.

The photographs were provided to CBS News by active-duty service members who requested anonymity, citing military restrictions on media access. CBS reported that the images showed damage at US positions in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

One photograph taken at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia shows what CBS described as a direct hit on the rear section of a Boeing E-3 Sentry aircraft.

The aircraft’s tail was severed from its charred fuselage.

The E-3 Sentry is equipped with a rotating radar system used for airborne surveillance and intelligence collection.

Other photographs from Prince Sultan Air Base showed damaged buildings and barracks. Images from Camp Buehring in Kuwait showed damaged trailers and other structures following Iranian attacks.

The photographs provide additional visual evidence of damage from the conflict.

However, the full scale of infrastructure and equipment losses remains subject to assessment by US military authorities.

A Pentagon inspector general report previously estimated that equipment losses during the first four months of the conflict totaled about $3.7 billion, as part of an overall war cost of approximately $33.4 billion through June 30.
