According to a report by Andrew Romano for Yahoo News, former UN Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, the sole Republican contender challenging former President Donald Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination, declared that she would deliver a significant speech on the “state of the race.”

Haley asserted her commitment to continue campaigning tirelessly until the final vote is cast. “I refuse to quit,” Haley affirmed.
“I feel no need to kiss the ring. I have no fear of Trump’s retribution. I’m not looking for anything from him.” In her public statements, Haley, a former accountant, presents a straightforward argument for remaining in the race: it's a matter of mathematics.
“You need 1,215 delegates. Coming out of New Hampshire, [Trump] had 32, I had 17,” she recently explained to NBC News.
“We’ve got multiple states after South Carolina — within 10 days, we’re going to have hit 20 states. Let it happen. Don’t discount that I ended up with 20% in Iowa when y’all said I wouldn’t make it. Don’t discount that I got 43% in New Hampshire, and don’t discount me now.”
Even after Trump secures the presumptive nomination, Haley could opt to stay in the race.
Conservative figures opposed to Trump have been considering various scenarios: weakening the former president for the general election, launching a third-party candidacy, or laying the groundwork for a potential comeback in 2028.
Haley may be a fitting candidate for such a role, considering the possibility of a significant legal development prompting Republican delegates to abandon Trump in favor of a more “electable” contender at the convention.
“Instead of asking me what states I’m gonna win, why don’t we ask how he’s gonna win a general election after spending a full year in a courtroom?” she remarked.
