According to reports from multiple social media users, officers from the Russian Armed Forces allegedly destroyed a Leopard tank that had been transferred to Ukraine and was operated by an entirely German crew of Bundeswehr soldiers.
This claim was initially made by the Russian state news agency Ria Novosti on September 23, 2023.
However, the German Ministry of Defense vehemently denied this allegation. Some online articles in French even suggested that the German Ministry of Defense had acknowledged the veracity of these accusations.
However, Euronews did not find any such statement on their website or in German media reports.
When asked by Deutsche Welle, the German Ministry of Defense denied these claims and emphasized, "There are no German tank crews in Ukraine," as stated by one of the ministry's official representatives.
