PSE Index Drops Below Support Level

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today again finished below its support level in its thinnest trading for the year closing at 7,181.86 points, down 66.19 points or 0.91 percent.

Value turnover was just p2.106 billion indicating the tentativeness in the market which had an abbreviated session today due to the Christmas celebration of families.


Converge, AC Energy, and Solar Philippines were the only ones that traded more than p100 million as investors kept out of the market.



Converge gained 10 centavos to p33 on trades of p121 million, AC Energy advanced 16 centavos to p11.26 with p118 million while solar declined by 2 centavos to P1.15.


There were 84 gainers against 81 losers with 39 shares unchanged. Market bellwether SM Investments went down by p17.50 to p951.50 as holding firms posted the biggest loss at negative 1.20 percent. Financials were down by 0.63 percent, industrials by 0.22 percent, services by 0.65 percent, and property by 1.03 percent.

Only the mining and oil index survived the downturn with a 0.70 percent rise.


Among the losers were Metrobank, down 40 centavos to p54.60, Bank of PI down p1.10 to p90.90, Dito CME by 7 centavos to p5.09 PLDT, down p11 to P1,836, and ICTSI, down p3.10 to p193.60.

Among the gainers were Megaworld up 2 centavos to p3.20 and Emperador, up 2 centavos too to p19.
