Nominee To Head SoKor Anti-Trust Body Withdraws

The nominee to head South Korea's antitrust regulatory organization openly stated his intention to resign on Sunday, July 10, 2022, after ongoing controversies stemming from allegations that he sexually abused students as a university professor about a decade ago, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Last Monday, the presidential office announced the nomination of the commercial law professor at Seoul National University. Soon after his nomination, a news story surfaced alleging that he made inappropriate remarks to some female students regarding their physical features while drunk during a dinner meeting in 2014.
Song recently admitted to making the remarks and apologized to the students.
Meanwhile, Yoon wants to appoint Kim Joo-hyun, the head of the Credit Finance Association, as chair of the Financial Services Commission (FSC) on Monday, July 11, according to a presidential aide.
