Nvidia Expands AI Footprint with Major South Korea Partnership

Nvidia has strengthened its position in the global artificial intelligence race after announcing a series of strategic agreements with major South Korean technology companies, Hillary Remy reported for TheStreet.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung traveled to San Francisco recently for a summit with leading AI executives, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and executives from Samsung Electronics, SK Group, Hyundai Motor, and Naver.

According to the report, the summit resulted in approximately $950 billion worth of AI-related agreements, reinforcing South Korea's role in the next phase of global AI infrastructure development.

Nvidia has spent much of 2026 securing AI infrastructure partnerships across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

On July 24, Nvidia announced an agreement to secure AI memory supplies from SK Hynix, South Korea's second-most valuable company.

The agreement, reportedly worth up to $500 billion over several years, includes large-scale AI data centers expected to begin operating in 2027.

As part of the partnership, SK Telecom will develop cloud services powered by Nvidia's Vera Rubin AI systems. Nvidia said the project is expected to require 2 gigawatts of electricity, indicating one of the world's largest planned AI computing deployments.
