Oracle Corp. reduced its workforce by approximately 21,000 employees as the company accelerated investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure, Clay Halton reported for Moneywise.

Oracle has emerged as a major supplier of AI computing capacity following reports that it signed a $300 billion agreement with OpenAI. However, the large-scale data center investments needed to support that business have placed increasing pressure on the company's finances.
Reuters reported in March that Oracle had begun implementing thousands of job cuts to help finance its AI expansion.
By the end of its 2026 fiscal year, Oracle's workforce had declined by approximately 13%, falling from 162,000 employees to 141,000.
The company said the restructuring was partly driven by the growing adoption of artificial intelligence within its operations.
Oracle is also involved in developing a planned nearly one-gigawatt data center in Port Washington, Wisconsin, which is expected to support its AI partnership with OpenAI.
