Tokyo, Japan — Philippine National Bank (PSE: PNB) has secured regulatory clearance to enable the Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG Fund to conduct client assistance, information, and orientation sessions within its Tokyo and Nagoya branches, strengthening support for overseas Filipinos in Japan.

The initiative allows SSS and Pag-IBIG representatives to engage directly with Filipinos abroad, offering assistance on membership, contributions, benefits, and related services within a familiar banking environment.

“This engagement reflects PNB’s broader mandate of serving overseas Filipinos through sustainable and well-coordinated service channels,” said Muffet Flores-Caculitan, First Senior Vice President and head of the bank’s International Banking and Remittance Group.

“It enables stronger collaboration among institutions that play a vital role in safeguarding the welfare of overseas Filipinos. By facilitating continued participation in key Philippine welfare programs, we support individual financial security while contributing to national development.”

Under the arrangement, PNB will provide rent-free space and tables, as needed, to SSS and Pag-IBIG to support on-site services and outreach activities for Filipino communities in Japan.

“This is an important step in bringing essential Philippine government services closer to our kababayans in Japan,” said Roderick Enriquez, managing director of PNB Tokyo.

“By hosting SSS and Pag-IBIG activities within PNB branches, overseas Filipinos gain convenient access to information and assistance that support their financial protection and long-term security.”

Through strategic partnerships and service initiatives, PNB continues to strengthen its role as a financial partner to overseas Filipinos, ensuring that both banking and government-linked services remain accessible, compliant, and responsive to evolving needs.
