Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, has reportedly expressed anger over an incident in which Orthodox Haredim Jews, including minors and adults, spat at Christians earlier this week, Linda Dayan reported for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Wadie Abu Nasser told Army Radio that the incident, involving Jews spitting at Christians in Jerusalem's Old City, has reached the highest levels of the faith community, especially as the city prepared for a parade that included an evangelical delegation.
Leading up to the Jerusalem parade scheduled for Wednesday, in which a significant evangelical delegation was set to participate, Christian leaders have condemned the incidents in which Jewish youths in Jerusalem spat at Christian pilgrims.
In an effort to address the situation, Israeli authorities arrested five individuals on suspicion of spitting at Christians in Jerusalem's Old City. The Jerusalem police have also launched a special investigation into these incidents of Jews spitting at Christians in the Old City, as the number of cases has risen.
According to a news report, during the march in question, which was led by the brother of MK Simcha Rothman, an architect of the judicial coup, a suspect was arrested for spitting.
