President Marcos Jr. has been asked to clarify his stance on foreign policy following the shift from his "friends to all, enemy to no one" pronouncement at the beginning of his term.

The clarification was made by Senator Kit Tatad, who made known his "disappointment" towards President Marcos Jr.'s 180-degree flip having allowed the US additional bases.
The military facilities could embroil the Philippines in a possible war scenario over Taiwan that will pit the United States against China.
"We deserve to hear from this government" a restatement on its foreign policy, Tatad said as he reminded the president that in 1975, when the Philippines became the first ASEAN country to have diplomatic ties with China, it also embraced the one-China policy.
Tatad, who was president Marcos Sr.'s youngest cabinet member, said that as a "senior citizen" desirous only of playing with his grandkids, we "ask the president to restate his foreign policy so that the 31 million who voted for him can articulate their view on the matter.

He said that he continues to be pessimistic by the day, especially with pronouncements coming from the Pentagon about the US' use of more bases than what was allowed under EDCA.
Tatad said the president owes it to his 31 million voters to explain how it happened that US military bases are now inside Philippine territory.
The former senator made his plea for a clarificatory explanation of the president's shift in foreign policy during a press forum organized by Philippine think tank IDSI, headed by Wharton alumnus George Siy, at the Romulo Cafe in Makati where the press conference of new China premier Li Qiang was live-streamed.
