PSE Index Declines

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index declined Wednesday on profit-taking, closing at its lowest level and one rung down at 6,378.56 points—lower by 34.30 points or 0.53 percent—after a brief attempt at higher levels early in the session.

Foreign selling contributed to the drop, with the top two active stocks posting losses. BDO Unibank declined by ₱1.30 to ₱157.40 on trades worth ₱692 million, while ICTSI lost ₱4 to close at ₱411 on trades amounting to ₱685 million.
Market bellwether SM Investments gained ₱1 to close at ₱851, but it touched a high of ₱862 and a low of ₱844 during the session, mirroring the index's performance.
The Financials sector dropped 0.93 percent, Industrials declined 0.54 percent, Mining and Oil retreated by 0.99 percent, and Property fell by 0.79 percent. In contrast, Holding Firms rose by 0.09 percent, and Services inched up by 0.35 percent.
There was net foreign selling of ₱129 million, with foreign buying at ₱2.932 billion and foreign selling at ₱3.062 billion. Value turnover reached ₱6.299 billion, with 115 gainers, 78 losers, and 45 unchanged issues.
Among the gainers were Bloomberry, DigiPlus, Rockwell, Citystate Savings, PNB, Union Bank, Vantage Securities, National Reinsurance, Aboitiz Power, Citicore RE, Petron, Topline, and Axelum.
Century Food, D&L Industries, Ginebra, Keeper Holdings, Ayala Land, JG Summit, Monde Nissin, Aboitiz Equity, Roxas and Co., Universal Robina, GT Capital, PLDT, Converge, Globe Telecom, ABS-CBN, Apex Mining, OceanaGold, PhilWeb, Puregold, Wilcon Depot, Oriental Petroleum, and Philodrill were likewise up.
Among the losers were Metrobank, Bank of PI, Jollibee Foods, SM Prime, Security Bank, Emperador, Meralco, Manila Water, Synergy Grid, Vitarich, Century Property, VistaREIT, Robinsons Retail, Atlas Mining, and Philex Mining.
Unchanged were ACEN Corp, Semirara Mining, SPNEC, Citicore REIT, Boulevard Holdings, AgriNurture, Belle Corp, Metro Retail, NickelAsia, SMC Food and Beverage, and Figaro Coffee.
