PSE Index Down A Bit On Profit-Taking

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today declined a bit after last-minute profit-taking altered what would have been another modest rise and closed 2.82 points or 0.04 percent down to 6,582.38 points.

Markets are still wary of the upcoming inflation numbers from the United States affecting the US Fed rate then, consequently, the Bangko Sentral response set at a one percentage point difference to protect the peso.
These analysts said there are still uncertainties over the market s reach with the resistance level still at 6,900 points and the support level at 6,150 points.
BDO Unibank is again the most active stock with trades of P441 million as it rose by another P1.80 or 1.6 percent to P112.50.
That rise was considered a vote for its income growth as it went up last Monday even after the ex-stock dividend. Jollibee Foods and Metrobank were both down on respective trades of P419 million and P270 million as they dipped by P7 to P235 a d by a peso to P54.
Port operator ICTSI saved the day for its sector with a 2.99 percent rise to P207, up by P6 to lead the services to a 0.16 percent gain.
The other gainers were property up by 0.98 percent and financials, up by 0.36 percent. Holdings lost 0.89 percent as market bellwether SM Investments went down by P20 to P916. Converge lost P1.10 to P14.10 while PLDT declined by P9 to P1,659.
Industrials lost 0.19 percent and mining and oil by 1.31 percent.
Value turnover amounted to P5.42 billion with 68 gainers, 113 losers, and 43 shares unchanged. Solar Philippines again declined, losing 9 centavos to P1.13 while Security Bank went down by P1.85 to P88.05, and GT Capital, down by P12 to P112.50.
Also down were Metro Pacific, which lost 2 centavos to P3.40, Meralco, down by 40 centavos to P28.
The gainers included Bank of PI, up by 90 centavos to P100, DM Consunji, up by 14 centavos to P10.50, ACEN Corp, up by 6 centavos to P7.21, Ayala Land, up 25 centavos to P29.35, SM Prime up 50 centavos to P35.20, Universal Robina, up 40 centavos to P137.40, and Emperador, up 5 centavos to P20.40.
