The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index surged 37.68 points, or 0.60%, to 6,326.89 points, although concerns remained about the market's trajectory.

Four of the six subsectors posted gains, but value turnover remained muted at ₱5.12 billion as investors remained cautious amid continuing uncertainty over peace efforts in the Middle East and challenges facing the local economy.
Investors are awaiting the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)'s next interest-rate decision amid an uptick in inflation and weaker-than-expected gross domestic product (GDP) data, contributing to a prevailing wait-and-see attitude.
The property subsector rose 1.84% on bargain hunting, with Ayala Land gaining 0.63% to ₱16.10 and SM Prime Holdings surging 4.37% to ₱19.10.
Financials also advanced 1.52%, likewise supported by bargain hunting, while industrials and mining and oil gained 0.13% and 2.18%, respectively. Holding firms declined 0.12%, while services slipped 0.007%.
Market favorite ICTSI was unchanged at ₱996, with trades worth ₱923 million. Foreign transactions accounted for ₱5.2 billion of total trading activity.
There was net foreign buying of ₱179 million, with foreign purchases reaching ₱2.73 billion and foreign selling totaling ₱2.55 billion.
Market breadth remained positive as investors bought second-line stocks. There were 98 gainers, 91 losers and 64 unchanged issues. Among the top gainers were Philex Mining, Apex Mining, Megawide, Jollibee Foods and First Gen.
