PSE Index Marginally Down

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today was marginally down in anemic trading ahead of a long holiday, to close just down by 7.14 points or 0.11 percent to 6,595.03 points.

Accounting for the decline was the above one percent loss in the services sub-index that, together with the financials resulted in the index loss.


ICTSI, the second most active with trades of P263 million, lost P3.20 to P210, PLDT was down by P19 to P1,331, and Globe Telecom went down P29 to P1,821.


Services posted the biggest loss of 1.02 percent while the financials went down by just 0.15 percent. Industrials went up by 0.12 percent, holding firms by 0.23 percent, mining and oil, up by 0.35 percent, and property up by 0.01 percent.



Value turnover was at a low of P3.6 billion with 82 advancers, 87 decliners, and 46 shares unchanged.


Semirara Mining rose by 2.31 percent to P30.95, a gain of 70 centavos on its disclosure of a regular and special cash dividend of P3.50, while the most active stock was Bank of PI with trades of P282 million as it closed 50 centavos higher to P102.

The third most active stock was SM Prime with trades of P227 million as it closed 5 centavos lower to P33.95.


Market bellwether SMnvestments rose by 1.44 percent to P918, up by p13 while the other gainers were ACEN Corp, up by 5 centavos to P6.47, Robinsons Land, up by 32 centavos to P14.46, Metro Pacific, up by 4 centavos to P3.67, Manila Water, up by 30 centavos to P19.94, Union Bank, up 20 centavos to P85.50, and AgriNurture up by 1 centavos to P7.64.

Among the losers were BDO Unibank, down by 50 centavos to p126. 50, Ayala Corp, down by a peso to P665, Universal Robina, down by 32 centavos to P14.46, Metrobank, down by 60 centavos to P57.90, Megaworld, down 7 centavos to P2.


Also down was new IPO Alternergy holdings, which closed in the red to P1.25, a loss of 3 centavos.
