PSE Index Recovers

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today recovered and flirted with a new milestone level as all sub-indices were in the green territory, to close 82 points higher or 1.15 percent to 7,094.86 points.

Services surged by 3.36 percent as port operator ICTSI rose by P10.40 to P221.60, a recent high, Converge went up by P1.58 to P19, PLDT gained P40 to P1,480, and Globe Telecom was up by P46 to P2,120.


BDO Unibank was the most active with P632 million in trades but it was one of four losers in the top 20 stocks as it ended the day 90 centavos lower to P123.60.



Market bellwether SM Investments was up a peso to P934, the second most active with trades of P613 million while ICTSI came in as third most active with trades of P532 million. The three other losers were Robinsons Land, down by 12 centavos to P14.80, Ayala Corp, down by P12 to P757, and Jollibee Foods, down by P2 to P250.


Financials rose by 0.60 percent, industrials by 1.49 percent, holding firms by 0.33 percent mining and oil by 0.78 percent, and property by 0.53 percent.

Value turnover was 30 percent above average at P7.98 billion with gainers ahead of losers 124 to 82 with 47 shares unchanged.


Among the gainers were Ayala Land, up by 60 centavos to P32.45, Bank of PI up P3 to P113.30, Emperador, up 5 centavos to P20.40, ACEN Corp, up 15 centavos to P6.90, GT Capital, up P6.40 to P485, and Metrobank, up 60 centavos to P59.80.


Market & economy: Market economist in suit and tie reading reports and analysing charts in the office located in the financial district.

Closing out the list of gainers were Universal Robina, up P2.90 to P143.70, Metro Pacific, up 10 centavos to P4, Monde, up 82 centavos to P14.86, and D.M. Consunji up 46 centavos to P12.76.
