PSE Index Recovers At Close

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today recovered to close above the 7,000-point milestone level after flashing in negative territory for most of the trading hours then surging with buy orders at the close, to gain 41.19 points or 0.59 to 7,027.38 points.

A total of P15 billion or three-fourths of the value turnover of P20.1 billion came in just after the market recess to nudge back the index to the 7,000-point psychological milestone with the property, financials, industrials, and holding firms posting gains to counter the decline in services, which went down by 0.46 percent and the 1.76 percent drop in mining and oil.
Market bellwether SM Investments went down by P11 to P919 but the holdings still rose by a marginal 0.03 percent, while property was up by 2.42 percent, financials, up by 0.39 percent, and industrials, up by 0.63 percent.
Union Bank emerged as most active with trades of P2.66 billion as it closed a peso down to P96 while DM Consunji followed with trades of P1.7 billion as it also declined by 26 centavos to P11.44, while third most active Ayala Land lost 35 centavos to P29.40 on trades of P1.6 billion.
Other big-traded stocks were Robinsons Land, which went down by 35 centavos to P15.74 with trades of P1.3 billion, Megaworld, which rose by 3 centavos to P2.26 with trades of P1.1 billion, BDO Unibank, which was up by 50 centavos to P126, and SM Prime, which gained P2 to P38.90 with trades of P829 million.
ICTSI was unchanged at P218, while Emperador was up by 30 centavos to P20.70, PLDT was up by P15 to P1,472, Metrobank, up by 20 centavos to P59.80, San Miguel, up by P11.40 to P116.40, Jollibee Foods, up by P3 to P245, Bank of PI, up by 40 centavos to P110.40, and Security Bank up by P3.70 to P96.70.
There were 83 gainers against 103 losers and 48 shares unchanged. Rounding up the gainers were Oriental Petroleum which went up by P0.001 to P0.012 and Axelum Resources, which closed at P3.51 from its previous price of P3.22.
