The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index recovered Thursday as bargain hunting toward the close lifted the market to end the day at 6,069.42 points, up 16.19 points, or 0.27%.

The PSEi fell to an intraday low of 6,029.90 before late-session buying pushed the index higher. The broader All Shares index also gained, rising 0.51% to 3,369.81.
Only the services sector declined, slipping 0.12%. Mining and oil led the gainers, surging 5.61%, followed by industrials, which rose 0.75%, and property, which advanced 0.77%.
Financials gained 0.14% despite a 0.99% decline in BDO Unibank Inc. to ₱120.30. Holding firms rose 0.43%, even as market bellwether SM Investments Corp. declined.
Meralco rose 0.96%, helping lift the industrial sector.
Trading remained subdued, with total value turnover at ₱5.24 billion, slightly below the ₱5.69 billion recorded on Wednesday.
Foreign investors remained net sellers, with buying of about ₱2.665 billion against selling of roughly ₱3.007 billion, resulting in net foreign selling of approximately ₱342 million.
Investor interest in market favorite International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) was also relatively muted.
The stock was the session's most actively traded issue by value, with about ₱555 million worth of shares changing hands. It fell 0.21% to ₱930.50.
Market breadth was positive, with 119 gainers against 85 losers, while 50 issues were unchanged.
The rebound came as investors awaited the release of August inflation data, while uncertainty surrounding global markets and the US-Iran situation continued to limit risk appetite.
