PSE Index Rises

The Philippine Stock Exchange index today posted a gain of 50.27 points or 0.80 percent to 6,362.30 points.

Five of the six sub-indices went up on bargain hunting with the holding firms the only loser going down by a smallish 0.03 percent as market bellwether SM Investments declined by P11 to P769 on trades of P326 million, the third most active stock.


Financials went up by 0.38 percent, industrials by 0.77 percent, services by 2.31 percent, mining and oil by 2.72 percent, and property by 0.99 percent.



BDO Unibank emerged most active stock with trades of P658 million as it went down by P1.20 to P112.60, followed by Ayala Corp with trades of P340 million. Value turnover amounted to P5.8 billion with 80 gainers, 84 losers, and 61 shares unchanged.


Semirara Mining rose by 40 centavos to P40.55 while Ayala Land went up by 65 centavos to P26.10. Converge rose by P1.13 to P20.05.

SM Prime and ACEN were unchanged at P37 and P8.50, respectively. Metrobank gained P1.10 to P48.90 while Security Bank lost P2.90 to P84. Meralco lost P5.20 to P322, while Aboitiz Equity went down by a peso to P58. GT Capital was up by P8.80 to P449.80 while Bank of PI rose by P1.95 to P92.
