PSE Index Rises Further

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today rose further and closed near a new milestone level as investors came charging after a slow start closing at its high point at 6,897.13 points, up 62.47 points or 0.91 percent.

Starting at a low of 6,841.13 points and slowly rose even with the decline in mining and oil index and services which lost by 0.05 percent and 0.64 percent.
Holding firms were the top gainer with a 2.29 percent advance, while the financials and industrials had identical gains of 0.62 percent, and the property sub-index advanced by 0.26 percent.
Value turnover amounted to P6.45 billion with 104 gainers, 102 losers, and 39 shares unchanged as investors remained optimistic over the economic prospects of the country.
The biggest gainer was GERI, which rose by 46.15 percent closing at P1.33, up by 42 centavos with trades of P79.75 million.
ACEN was the most active stock with trades of P327.7 million closing at P9.98, down by one centavo, followed by market bellwether SM Investments, which gained by P39 to P1,020, and PLDT, which declined by P57 to P1,475.
BDO Unibank went up by 20 centavos to P115.80 while Metrobank lost 50 centavos P44.50. Bank of PI was up by P1.30 to P83.50 and PNB advanced by 10 centavos to P20.45.
Ayala Corp lost P4 to P790 while DIto CME declined by 10 centavos to P8.60 and Converge by 10 centavos to P31.90.
