PSE Index Still Up

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today rose again with a slight uptick of 48.06 points or 0.66 percent to p7,335.56 points.

The index-heavy holding firms frustrated a higher rise as it dropped by 0.52 percent negating the positive impact of the surge in mining index of 2.82 percent and that of property which was up by 2.16 percent on a rise in SM Prime by 90 centavos to p35.50.


The financials lead the way, propelled by most active stock Metrobank's P2 gain to p57 on trades of p623 million, and BDO Unibank, which went up by p2 too to p127, and also that of Bank of PI, which advanced by p80 centavos to p95.60 rose by 1.40 percent. Industrials rose by 0.57 percent, and services by 0.61 percent.



Value turnover was still a thin p5.2 billion as the omicron' fears rattled the markets and countries. There were 114 gainers and 79 losers with shares unchanged of 62 issues.


Solar Philippines was the second most active as it slid by 6 centavos to P1.25 while Megaworld advanced by 8 centavos to p3.33. PLDT was up by p28 to p1,870, Converge unchanged at p32.10, and Jollibee up by p6.20 to p223.

The other gainers Emperador, up 40 centavos to p20.90, ICTSI up by a peso to p205, JG Summit, up by 80 centavos to p55, Alliance Global, up by 16 centavos to p12.32, while market bellwether SM Investments lost p16 to p971.
