The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today rose a bit, saved by the gains in the index-heavy holding firms and the property sector to end at its high point of 6,468.97 points, up by 34.73 points or 0.54 percent.

Market bellwether SM Investments led the holding sub-index up by 1.21 percent as it closed a fluctuation lower from its highest price point to P805, up by P27 or a hefty 3.47 percent.


SM Prime and Ayala Land, on the other hand, led the property sub-index to a 2.40 percent gain as the former went up by 70 centavos to P37.30, and the latter by P1.15 or 4.56 percent to P26.35 as it topped the most active list with trades of P557 million.



The financials lost 1.15 percent, industrials by 0.18 percent, services by 0.40 percent, and mining and oil by 0.10 percent.


Value turnover was double the average at p12. 19 billion with 112 gainers, 82 losers, and 42 shares unchanged. ICTSI was the second most active with trades of P424 million as it went down by P3 to P181 while BDO Unibank was third most active on P410 million worth of transactions as it lost P2.90 to P115.

Among the other losers were Monde down by 4 centavos to P16.08, Ayala Corp down P7 to P708, Meralco down by P4.80 to P315, Security Bank down 40 centavos to P83, Alliance Global down 19 centavos to P8.91, ACEN down 26 centavos to P8.64, Globe down P38 to P2,032, Emperador down 16 centavos to P18.98, and Bank of PI down P1.40 to P95.10.


Market & economy: Market economist in suit and tie reading reports and analysing charts in the office located in the financial district.

The gainers included Universal Robina up by 50 centavos to P124.50, PLDT up P6 to P1,749, Converge up 5 centavos to P20.05, Jollibee up P4.20 to P219, and Solar Philippines up 2 centavos to P1.74. Semirara Mining was unchanged at P39.50.
