PSE Index Up A Bit

The Philippine Stock Exchange index today rose a bit to 6,388.64 points, up 26.82 points or 0.42 percent after shrugging off an early decline during the market recess with the financials the only gainer then.

Bargain hunters though pushed up the industrials, services, and property to offset the declines in holding firms and mining and oil which lost 0.07 percent and 0.54 percent respectively.


Financials were up 0.87 percent, industrials by 0.30 percent, services by 0.83 percent and property by 0.19 percent.



Ayala Land emerged as the most active stock with trades of P699 million though it lost 45 centavos to P25.45 as investors took profits.


The next three most active stocks were also down: Solar Philippines which lost 4 centavos to P1.71, Metrobank down 30 centavos to P49.40, and Globe down P18 to P2,276.

Market bellwether SM Investments was down a peso to P838, Converge by 40 centavos to P21.40, Universal Robina by 70 centavos to P118.80, Aboitiz Equity by 70 centavos to P50.50, Jollibee by P3 to P214, and GT Capital by P14.60 to P478.20.


Value turnover was below average at P3.7 billion with the last two hours of trading accounting for below P2 billion in trades with 82 gainers, 101 losers, and 45 shares unchanged.

Among the gainers were BDO Unibank up a peso to P119.80, SM Prime by 55 centavos to P37.45, Alliance Global by 39 centavos to P10, Semirara Mining by 15 centavos to P36.90, PLDT by P19 to P1,709, ICTSI by P4.40 to P189.40, Bank of PI by P1.80 to P88.80, Ayala Corp by a peso to P644, and Monde by 34 centavos to P13.38.
