PSE Index Up A Bit Anew

The Philippine Stock Exchange closed higher today with a 13.76 point or 0.22 percent rise as the financials sub-index posted the biggest gain with BDO Unibank recovering its bearings after nervousness hit the market on a default notice it made on Davao businessman Dennis Uy's Udenna holding firm although its listed shares posted losses.

Only the property sub-index went down, losing 0.49 percent while financials gained 1.30 percent, services by 0.36 percent, mining and oil by 0.27 percent, holding firms by 0.12 percent, and industrials by 0.003 percent.


Value turnover, however, remained low at just P3.83 billion with 75 gainers, 100 losers, and 41 shares unchanged, which include Ayala Corp at P600.



Universal Robina was the top traded stock with P316 million as it closed P3.90 lower to P110 followed by Bank of PI which added 50 centavos to P87, Semirara Mining, up 80 centavos to P41, and BDO Unibank which posted a P3 gain to P117 on trades of P253 million.


Metrobank also was up by 10 centavos to P47.25 while Converge and Globe lost respectively closing at P19.88, down by 4 centavos, and P28 down by P2,100. Market bellwether SM Investments declined by P10 to P2780 while Ayala Land and SM Prime closed mixed, with the former up by 60 centavos to P24.40 and the latter down by 70 centavos to P36.15.

Uy's listed shares were all down: Phoenix losing 4 centavos to P9.73, Dito CME by 7 centavos to P3.88, and Chelsea by 1 centavo to P1.20 while second liners had posted gains on renewed optimism about their prospects such as Axelum Resources, up by 4.5 percent or 11 centavos to P2.58 million on trades of P2.4 million and DFNN up 18 cents to P3,43 on its Starlink link-up.
