PSE Index Up Slightly in Another Volatile Market

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index saw another volatile trading session to close the week.

It opened slightly higher than Thursday’s close, slumped mid-session, then edged up in late trading to finish at 6,315.43 points — up by 24.08 points or 0.38 percent.
Gaming stocks were again among the day’s top buys. DigiPlus was the most actively traded stock with ₱1.97 billion in transactions, gaining 8.11 percent to close at ₱26, up by ₱1.95.
Bloomberry also surged 9.09 percent, closing 30 centavos higher at ₱3.60. Market bellwether SM Investments posted a gain of 0.76 percent, or ₱6, to close at ₱796, while San Miguel dropped to a new low at ₱55.55, down ₱4.25 or 7.11 percent.
Of the sectoral indices, only Mining and Oil posted a loss, falling 0.63 percent.
Financials rose by 0.08 percent, Industrials climbed 1.01 percent, Holding Firms inched up 0.005 percent, Services gained 0.52 percent, and Property advanced 0.13 percent.
Value turnover reached ₱10.34 billion, while net foreign selling stood at ₱514 million — with foreign buying of ₱4.76 billion and foreign selling of ₱5.28 billion.
Market breadth was negative, with 83 gainers, 109 losers, and 57 unchanged, including Ayala Corp., Manila Water, D&L Industries, Cebu Landmasters, Filinvest Land, VistaREIT, and Oriental Petroleum A and B shares.
