PSE Index Wanes Again

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today declined slightly after a brief rise in mid-session to close 17.60 points or 0.24 percent down to P7,349.82 points.

Gainers, however, were ahead of losers as investors picked share prices that have declined in the past trading days. There were 101 gainers, 87 losers, and 58 shares unchanged with value turnover still more than average at P7.45 billion.


Monde emerged as the most active stock with trades of P990.9 million rising 48 centavos to P18.12 as investors await its entry into the Morgan Stanley composite index by month-end together with AC Energy, which lost 8 centavos to P12. Converge followed with trades of P570 million as its share price declined by P1.70 to P34.



PLDT and Dito CME posted respective losses of P42 to P1,708 and 35 centavos to P5.60, while Globe advanced by P8 to P3,468. Property firms Ayala Land and SM Prime closed at identical P36 with the former down by 30 centavos and the latter by 40 centavos.


The financials were up by 1.16 with BDO Unibank ahead by P2.50 to P129.70, Metrobank by P1.05, and BPI by 5 centavos to P91.10.

Aside from the financials, the mining and oil sub-index rose by 1.82 percent, while industrials rose by 0.18 percent. Holding firms declined by 0.47 percent, services by 0.92 percent. and property by 0.77 percent.


Among the gainers were Ayala Corp. up by P13 to P903, Jolllibee by 60 centavos to P245.80, while the losers were GMA 7, down by 48 centavos to P14.16, Emperador, dwn by 12 centavos to P18.24 and Wellex Industries, down 2 centavos to 23 centavos.
