The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) is joining more than 80 stock exchanges all over the world in supporting gender equality advancement and women empowerment with the symbolic ringing of the bell.

This bell ringing will last until March 12 and is meant to show that the local bourse is open to the idea of having women in key leadership positions as part of its observance and support for gender equality.
The special bell-ringing ceremony was led by PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon, Securities Clearing Corporation Philippines COO Renee D. Rubio, Capital Markets Integrity Corporation President Daisy P. Arce, and members of PSE’s Management Committee. PSE Directors, guests from UN Global Compact Philippine Network, UN Women Philippines, and We Empower Asia attended the event virtually.
Every time we Ring the Bell for Gender Equality, we highlight our diversity numbers to show that we value women in PSE and there is no hindrance to their assuming leadership posts at the company”, said Monzon said.
Currently, four PSE Directors are women. Our Treasurer, Corporate Secretary, and operating heads of our fully-owned subsidiaries are women.
Three of our eight Management Committee members and 12 of 19 Department Heads are women, he added.
As a company with 60-percent female employees, PSE will continue to adopt the Women Empowerment Principles.
By providing equal employment and leadership opportunities for women, PSE can address in its own way UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 which aims to achieve Gender Equality.
The Ring the Bell for Gender Equality program is organized by the UN Global Compact, UN Women, Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, International Finance Corporation, World Federation of Exchanges, and Women in ETFs.
