PSE Up After Roller Coaster Ride

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed a bit higher after a roller-coaster ride opening high and then dipping low before recovering to close at 7,382.54 points, 51.19 points, or 0.70 percent higher.

Value turnover was heftier at p10.41 billion with 81 shares up, 109 losers, and 50 shares unchanged. The sub-indices were split with the financials, holding firms and property up respectively at 0.38 percent, 0.74 percent, and 1.94 percent.
The losers were industrials, down by 0.30 percent, services down by 0.08 percent, and mining by 1.68 percent.
The three recent IPOs were much traded with Monde up by 36 centavos to p16.96 on trades of p2.04 billion, Synergy Grid, closing P1.30 higher to p14.50 on trades of p1.809 billion as it neared p16, while AllDay was the top gainer at 0.82, up by 10.81 percent on value turnover of p1.389 billion.
The index went to a high of 7,387.82 after hitting a bottom of 7,329.25 points as punters took profits on rising share prices. BDO Unibank and ICTSI were both unchanged at p130 and p192.
PLDT rose by p11 to P1,699 as market bellwether SM Investments gained p11 to p990.
Among the losers were Dito down by 37 centavos to p6.33, Globe down by p40 to P3,430, and AC Energy, down by 30 centavos to p11.98.
