In a world increasingly conscious of its environmental footprint, PUMA, a global sports brand synonymous with speed and innovation, has been sprinting ahead in sustainability.
PUMA is sprinting towards sustainability with a 24% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2023. From renewable energy to eco-friendly materials, every step counts in our journey to a greener future.
With a notable 24% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2023 compared to the previous year, PUMA showcases its commitment to a greener future without compromising on performance.
At the heart of this achievement lies a multi-faceted approach. PUMA's core suppliers stepped up their game by doubling their usage of renewable energy, while the incorporation of less carbon-intensive materials in products marked another significant stride.
Partnering with Maersk, PUMA introduced low carbon shipment tariffs, amplifying its impact across the supply chain. Meanwhile, investments in electric vehicles underscored the brand's dedication to sustainable logistics.
“We are very proud of the progress we have achieved on our sustainability journey in 2023, particularly when it comes to the reduction of greenhouse gases,” said Anne-Laure Descours, Chief Sourcing Officer at PUMA.
With an impressive 85% reduction in own emissions and a 65% reduction in supply chain emissions relative to sales, PUMA surpassed its science-based greenhouse gas reduction target seven years ahead of schedule.
Looking ahead, PUMA's new climate goals, endorsed by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), aim to align with a 1.5-degree trajectory, crucial for combating global warming.
By 2030, PUMA ambitiously aims to slash absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% from a 2017 baseline year, with additional commitments to reduce Scope 3 emissions from its supply chain and logistics by 33%.
Beyond emissions reductions, PUMA's sustainability efforts include eliminating plastic carrier bags from owned stores and spearheading innovative solutions like the RE:SUEDE experiment, transforming sneakers into compost.
Furthermore, extensive training programs and community engagement initiatives underscore PUMA's dedication to human rights and social responsibility. As PUMA continues to push boundaries in sport and culture, its sustainability strides stand as a beacon of hope, setting a high bar for the industry to follow.
With a comprehensive sustainability report available for scrutiny, PUMA invites stakeholders to join them on this transformative journey towards a brighter, greener future.
