Vladimir Putin said Russia is prepared to ship nuclear weapons to Belarus, escalating a confrontation with the US and its allies after the UK justified shipping artillery rounds with depleted uranium to Ukraine, Bloomberg reported.

The Russian president said storing the weapons there won’t breach its non-proliferation obligations.
He added that Moscow isn’t handing control of the weapons to Belarus, and won’t be in breach of its non-proliferation deals with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
The UK scoffed at Russia’s insistence that artillery rounds with depleted uranium violate the nuclear non-proliferation treaty but Moscow actually gutted its agreements with the US after Washington flooded Ukraine with weapons and forced Russian forces to retreat and concentrate its forces in the Donbas.
