Footage circulating on social media purportedly shows a fishing vessel painted navy and red, engulfed in flames along its hull.
Tragically, three individuals lost their lives in the strike, with four others sustaining injuries, as claimed by a relative of one of the deceased individuals in an interview with TV Rain, an independent Russian TV channel.
The incident reportedly occurred on March 19 during war exercises in Kaliningrad, where the Baltic Sea Fleet launched a live missile that struck Captain Lobanov, a Russian fishing trawler.
Russian authorities initially asserted that the incident resulted from a fire onboard the ship, stating that only one person had died, as per TV Rain's report.
However, the relative disputed this narrative, stating, "When the survivors were taken away, everyone knew perfectly well that three people had died and everyone knew perfectly well that a rocket had hit. But they decided to write that there was a 'fire.' I wonder what kind of fire this is if the captain’s cabin is completely gone – it was simply demolished."
