Moscow has announced the establishment of two “front line creative brigades” tasked with raising the “fragile” morale of troops deployed in Ukraine, according to the UK ministry of defense (MoD), and they will be comprised of opera singers, actors, and circus performers” in the hope of raising the spirits of soldiers hit by “high casualty rates” and “poor leadership.” on the battlefield.

“Fragile morale almost certainly continues to be a significant vulnerability across much of the Russian force. However, soldiers’ concerns primarily focus on very high casualty rates, poor leadership, pay problems lack of equipment and ammunition, and lack of clarity about the war’s objectives.
The creative brigades’ efforts are unlikely to substantively alleviate these concerns,” Vishwam Sankaran and Emily Atkinson reported for the Independent.
The MoD’s daily intelligence added: Military music and organized entertainment for deployed troops have a long history in many militaries but in Russia they are strongly intertwined with the Soviet-era concept of ideological political education.”
Russia’s move came in the wake of Ukrainian reports that a surrender hotline operated by Kyiv had already received 1.2 million calls from Russian troops and their family members.
Field reports also indicated internecine warfare among Russian units, with army troops firing tank rounds at members of the Russian National Guard, and members of ethnic minorities mutinying against their Russian officers.
In a previous incident, a battalion commander was killed when he was run over by a tank driven by his own soldiers.
