Reform UK Bags Nearly £15 Million From Crypto and Finance Donors

Reform UK received almost £15 million in large donations during the first six months of 2026, according to Electoral Commission records analyzed by openDemocracy.

The party led by Nigel Farage received more large donations than any other UK political party during the period, with millions of pounds coming from a cryptocurrency billionaire who was pardoned by U.S. President Donald Trump last year.

The donations have strengthened Reform UK's finances ahead of the next general election.

Some political observers have speculated that the election could take place as early as next autumn, although no election date has been set.

The fundraising figures emerged as Reform suspended two senior aides pending an investigation following an undercover operation that allegedly exposed efforts to facilitate donations from impermissible overseas donors.

Rival parties said they had reported the matter to police.

The Electoral Commission said it was “considering all relevant information” and was in contact with London's Metropolitan Police.

Reform has denied wrongdoing. Reform's funding has increasingly been linked to wealthy cryptocurrency investors.

Separate reporting by The Independent found that the party had received £20 million from cryptocurrency investors since the 2024 general election, with crypto-linked donors accounting for a substantial share of its funding.

Among the most prominent donors is Christopher Harborne, a Thailand-based cryptocurrency investor who has given millions of pounds to Reform. The Guardian reported in June that Harborne had donated £15 million to the party over the preceding 12 months.
