Renewed Yemen Fighting Displaces 300,000, UN Warns of Worsening Conditions

Renewed fighting in Yemen has displaced approximately 300,000 people over the past several months, worsening an already severe humanitarian crisis and leaving women and children with reduced access to essential services, including maternity care and protection from sexual violence and exploitation, the United Nations said.

The clashes involve Iran-backed Houthi forces and troops aligned with Yemen's internationally recognized government, which has received support from Saudi Arabia.
The fighting has been concentrated largely along the country's western coast and in the southern province of Taiz, according to AP reporting.
The escalation has undermined a four-year truce and made it more difficult for humanitarian organizations to reach vulnerable communities.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has also reported serious restrictions on access to Taiz, where renewed clashes have disrupted civilian movement and humanitarian deliveries.
The United Nations and humanitarian organizations have warned that continued fighting could further restrict access to health care and other essential services for displaced families.
