Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will not release a comprehensive study that linked high alcohol intake to seven types of cancer beyond liver and kidney disease, Dylan Scott reported for Vox.

The study found alcohol use is associated with increased mortality for cancers of the colon, breast (in women), liver, oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, and esophagus.
Risk rises with any level of alcohol consumption and escalates with heavier use, the authors concluded. Women face a higher per-drink risk of alcohol-attributable cancer than men.
On average, men and women who die from alcohol-related causes die 15 years earlier than peers.
Despite months of public debate about alcohol and health, the Trump administration has withheld the study for six months.
Instead, Kennedy and allies are steering dietary guidelines in the opposite direction while defunding the office responsible for the report.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared in 2023 that no level of alcohol consumption can be considered safe, urging countries to take a harder look at drinking habits.
