Rittenhouse Surprises Rightists By Backing Black Lives Matter

The exoneration of Kyle Rittenhouse was met with calls for calm as protests broke out in several cities. Anti-racism and anti-police protesters as well as Democratic politicians are outraged at the verdict, which has been celebrated by the gun lobby, The Independent of the United Kingdom (UK) reported.

The Gun Owners of America is “awarding” Rittenhouse with an AR-15 similar to the one he used to shoot three people on a street in Kenosha last summer, killing two. It is not yet firm if the families of the people killed by Rittenhouse would file civil suits against the teenager for wrongful deaths of two protesters, making him liable to millions of dollars.

However, despite his elevation to hero status by many on the conservative right, Rittenhouse told Tucker Carlson in an interview that he supports the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, flummoxing the arch-conservative Fox News commentator.

His attorney, meanwhile, used an appearance on CNN to rage against “disgusting” GOP lawmakers looking to “profit” from the trial, as well as Carlson, who will be airing a documentary about the teenage shooter featuring footage filmed during the trial.

“I threw them out of the room several times,” Mark Richards said of the Fox News team that followed him and his client. “I don’t think a film crew is appropriate for something like this.”
