Renowned economist Robert Reich has sharply criticized Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, labeling them as the leading figures in a movement to undermine the rights of workers to unionize, according to his Substack piece.

Reich, previously optimistic about Bezos and Musk's stance on workers' rights, now accuses them of actively seeking to suppress labor unions and drive down wages.
He points to Amazon's aggressive tactics to thwart unionization efforts, including anti-union meetings, targeting union supporters, and challenging union elections. Additionally, Amazon recently argued in a legal filing that the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is unconstitutional, a move that mirrors similar actions by Musk's SpaceX.
This argument challenges the authority of the NLRB, the agency responsible for enforcing the National Labor Relations Act, which grants workers the right to unionize.
However, Reich highlights that the Supreme Court already settled this matter in 1937, affirming Congress's constitutional authority to pass the labor law and establish the NLRB.
Reich warns against allowing Bezos and Musk, whom he refers to as "modern-day robber barons," to erode the hard-fought rights of workers to organize. He emphasizes the importance of upholding the principles of the National Labor Relations Act and preventing a regression to a time when workers lacked basic protections.
