Russia has successfully test-launched a new intercontinental ballistic missile from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the country's northwest, the TASS news agency reported.

TASS cited as the source of the report a highly-placed official in the defense ministry. The launch took place in mid-June, the source told the news agency, Maria Kiselyova reported for Reuters.
Earlier, Russia touted a new hypersonic missile that is virtually unstoppable by existing US defense systems and the US retaliated by successfully testing a new cruise missile that surpassed the performance of the Russian weapon under a command system that uses drones, land facilities, satellites, submarines and aircraft.
A recent US test in the Pacific confirmed the efficiency of the hypersonic missile that hit a moving target more than 2,500 kilometers away.
