Sabotage Suspected In Damage To Finland's Gas Pipeline And Telecoms Cable Link To Estonia

Helsinki has indicated that the saboteurs aimed to inflict significant damage on both Finland and Estonia by targeting both the subsea gas pipeline and a telecommunications cable that connects the two countries beneath the Baltic Sea simultaneously, as also reported by Reuters.

The Balticconnector gas pipeline was shut down early on Sunday due to concerns about gas leakage from a hole in the 77-kilometer pipeline. The Finnish operator, Gasgrid, has stated that it may take several months or longer to complete the necessary repairs.
