FTX’s former CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, may have become synonymous with the collapse of the FTX exchange, but it’s much more than that, Pratik Bhuyan reported for Coingape.

Alameda Research, the trading firm of the FTX empire plays a much more crucial role in the whole FTX drama. Alameda plunked in billions of dollars in private investments in companies ranging from blue chips to crypto and early-age startups.

Ten holding corporations hold the dispersed collection of roughly 500 illiquid investments. And, as per the data, the overall investment value is greater than $5.4 billion.

Alameda Research made sizeable investments into crypto miner Genesis and the artificial intelligence research group Anthropic. It also invested in Elon Musk’s SpaceX & Boring Co. despite Musk’s saying SBF has been pushing supporting “bullshit,” as well as Sequoia Capital & Anthony Scaramucci’s SkyBridge Capital.

These investments were made through “K5 investments” and a total of $300 million is reported to be invested in them.
