Despite a threat from Donald Trump to “shut his mouth—or else,” Bruce Springsteen stood his ground and delivered another searing critique of the former president during a concert in Manchester, England, Alex Young reported for Consequence.

The New Jersey rock icon echoed themes from earlier in The E Street Band’s “Land of Hope and Dreams Tour.”
“In my home, the America I love—the America I’ve written about, and that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years—is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration,” Springsteen declared.
“Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism, and let freedom ring!”
Before performing “My City of Ruins,” Springsteen repeated a speech from the tour’s opening night, condemning what he called the administration’s attacks on free speech and constitutional rights. “In America, they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent,” he said.
“In my country, they are taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers. They’re rolling back civil rights legislation, abandoning our allies, and siding with dictators. They’re defunding universities that won’t submit to ideological demands. And they’re deporting residents without due process to foreign detention centers. This is all happening now,” he warned.
Trump, upon hearing Springsteen’s remarks, issued a veiled threat via his platform Truth Social, saying the musician should “KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country… Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
