Starbucks Plans Corporate Layoffs By March

Starbucks is preparing to implement layoffs as part of its "Back to Starbucks" plan to streamline operations, CEO Brian Niccol announced in a letter published on the company’s website, Brooke DiPalma reported for Yahoo Finance.

“To operate more efficiently will involve making difficult decisions and choices,” Niccol wrote, adding that employees affected by the changes would be notified by early March.
“I do not take these decisions lightly and understand the uncertainty and concern this creates. My goal is to be transparent about our progress and plans so that you hear directly from me,” he stated.
As of September 29, 2024, Starbucks employed about 361,000 workers globally, including 211,000 in the U.S. The layoffs will focus on corporate support roles, which include non-store positions in store development, roasting, manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution.
These roles represent roughly 10,000 of Starbucks’ total workforce, while in-store employees will remain unaffected.
