This move opens up new travel possibilities for North American passengers, who can now conveniently journey from Los Angeles to Clark, the gateway to the northern Philippines, by way of Taipei.
The new route adds to STARLUX's existing flights to Manila and Cebu, underscoring the carrier's commitment to expanding its reach in the Asia Pacific region.
The inaugural flight, designated JX790, took off from Clark International Airport amidst an atmosphere of festivity, a pre-flight ceremony encompassing a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a cake-cutting event, and a mesmerizing cultural dance performance.
Notable figures in attendance included Mr. Glenn Chai, STARLUX CEO, Mr. Joshua M. Bingcang, President & CEO of Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Mr. Richard G. Daenos, Regional Director of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Ms. Agnes VST Devanadera, representative of Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Mr. Noel Manankil, President of Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD), and Amb. Wallace Minn-Gan Chow, Officer Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Philippines (TECO).
STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai conveyed his enthusiasm for this new route, stating, "Today marks a significant milestone as we expand our service from Clark to Taipei, a route we expect will increase our competitiveness in the North American market by significantly reducing travel time for passengers heading to the northern Philippines for family, leisure, or business. Clark has tremendous business and tourism potential."
Having once been the largest U.S. military base in Asia, Clark boasts a captivating blend of history, burgeoning economic activity, stunning natural landscapes, and a vibrant cultural scene that is poised to make an indelible impression on every traveler.
Apart from the convenience factor, STARLUX's premium in-flight services are expected to draw in more business travelers who seek a blend of luxury and comfort during their journeys.
In 2022, the United States was the most prominent source of international tourists to the Philippines, according to data from Statistica.
With over four million Filipinos in the U.S., constituting the third largest Asian ethnic group as per U.S. Census figures, this new route serves as a bridge for maintaining familial and business connections that hold strong ties to the Philippines.
The newly launched Taipei-Clark route will be served by STARLUX's advanced Airbus A321neo aircraft, arranged in a two-class configuration. The Business Class section offers eight premium seats, while Economy Class caters to 180 passengers, promising a well-rounded travel experience for a diverse range of travelers.
This strategic expansion positions STARLUX Airlines as a formidable player in the aviation sector, facilitating seamless connections and opening up exciting new horizons for travelers in North America and beyond.
