A massive solar flare, the most significant since 2017, has disrupted radio communication for two hours on Earth.

A CME is an outburst of plasma from the sun, and this eruption occurred in the northwest section of the sun.

Detected by a NASA telescope, the event was reported by Doug Cunningham for United Press International (UPI).

"This is likely one of the largest solar radio events ever recorded," stated the US Space Weather Prediction Center. "Radio communication interference with aircraft was reported by multiple NWS Center Weather Service Units co-located at FAA facilities.
