Taylor Farms Urges Confidence in Fresh Produce After FDA Clears Lettuce

Taylor Farms is urging consumers not to avoid fresh fruits and vegetables despite concerns surrounding a recent cyclosporiasis outbreak, Forbes reported.

The company, which operates 19 production facilities across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Western Europe and employs approximately 25,000 people, said it has been negatively affected by the outbreak even after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that its products did not sicken consumers.

The FDA had linked Taylor Farms to its investigation into the outbreak, prompting scrutiny of the company.

However, Bruce Taylor, founder and CEO of the $7 billion revenue business, told Forbes that the company welcomes additional FDA review and emphasized that consumers should continue eating fresh produce.

Taylor also welcomed the FDA's subsequent report clearing the company's lettuce of responsibility for the outbreak.
