"We found Alexei Navalny," said Kira Yarmysh, adding that he is now in northern Russia, as reported by BBC News.
Navalny's team had no contact with him since December 6, after he was moved from a previous prison. Navalny, a prominent opponent of Vladimir Putin, has been imprisoned since 2021.
Yarmysh stated that his lawyer saw him on the day of the announcement, confirming that Navalny is fine. He has been moved to the IK-3 penal colony in Kharp, in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, northern Russia.
The US, while welcoming reports of Navalny being located, expressed deep concern about his well-being and conditions of detention. The "Polar Wolf" colony, where Navalny is now held, is considered one of the toughest in Russia, primarily for detainees convicted of serious crimes.
