Toyota Motor Corp. has announced that it anticipates its partial production halt in Japan to extend through at least the weekend. This disruption has been triggered by an explosion at a parts supplier on Monday, as reported by Kyodo News.

The disruption has continued to escalate, with 11 production lines at seven different factories in Aichi and nearby prefectures in central Japan ceasing operations as of Wednesday.
This marks an expansion from the 10 production lines at six factories affected the previous day, and it involves the world's largest carmaker.
While some of these production lines are scheduled to resume operations on Thursday, it is expected that others will halt production on Friday. This will bring the total number of affected production lines at one time to 13 at eight factories.
Toyota stated that these factories are likely to resume production no earlier than October 23. The recent disruption originated from an accident that occurred on Monday at Chuo Spring Co.'s factory, a supplier of springs, located in the city of Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, as also reported by Mainichi Japan.
