Trump Approval Falls to 33% in Financial Times-Focaldata Poll

President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to 33% in a Financial Times/Focaldata poll, the lowest level recorded in the survey series since it began asking the question in May.

The poll, conducted among 1,914 registered voters from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1, showed Trump's approval rating falling three percentage points from the previous month. The margin of error was 2.6 percentage points.

Trump's approval among Republican voters also fell two points to 72%, a low for the Financial Times/Focaldata series.

Economic concerns appear to be weighing heavily on voters.

Fifty-seven percent of respondents said they were financially worse off under Trump, up from 53% in the previous month.

Forty-six percent said Trump was making it harder for Republicans to win the November midterm elections. Forty-three percent said an endorsement from Trump would make them less likely to vote for the endorsed candidate.

A separate NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll put Trump's approval rating at 36%, down one point from April and described by Forbes as a record low in that poll's tracking during Trump's second term.

The NBC survey of 7,105 adults was conducted from Aug. 20 to Sept. 1 and had a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points.

Forty-one percent of Republicans strongly approved of Trump's job performance, down from 52% in the spring.

Among self-identified MAGA Republicans, 62% supported Trump, down from 71% in the spring. The NBC survey also found declining Republican support for Trump's handling of the Iran war.

The share of Republicans who strongly approved of his handling of the conflict fell 18 points to 30%, while approval among MAGA Republicans fell 21 points to 43%.

The polling comes less than two months before the November midterm elections, when voters will decide control of Congress.
