U.S. President Donald Trump said he will begin notifying trade partners of new unilateral tariff rates within the next two weeks, potentially ahead of the scheduled deadline for his “reciprocal tariff” policy, Eleanor Butler reported for Euronews.

Trump’s remarks suggest he may proceed with the new tariffs before the July 8 deadline.

“We’re going to be sending letters out in about a week and a half, two weeks, to countries, telling them what the deal is,” Trump said during an event at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

“At a certain point, we’re just going to send letters out… saying this is the deal, you can take it or leave it.”

Trump’s remarks suggest he may proceed with the new tariffs before the July 8 deadline, which marks the end of a 90-day pause on implementation. The new rates are set to take effect July 9.

While Trump signaled no delay was likely, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently told Congress there could be flexibility for countries “negotiating in good faith.” He said nations or blocs like the EU could see deadlines pushed forward, while others may face the full tariff schedule.
