Twice impeached and defeated ex-US president Donald Trump has sued Hillary Clinton over what he claimed were unfounded Russian collusion allegations against him that were designed “to rig” the 2016 presidential race, Reuters reported.

The lawsuit covers a long list of grievances the Republican ex-president repeatedly aired during his four years in the White House without producing a sliver of evidence and after showing on global television his fawning servility to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who had shredded his country’s basic law to allow him to control power for 22 years.
An amendment to the Constitution allows Putin to maintain his grip on the Kremlin until 2036 when he would be 83, if he survives, the Associated Press (AP) also reported.
Trump alleges "racketeering" and other claims as part of an "unthinkable plot" to undermine his campaign, which ended in the defeat of Clinton in the Electoral College. Clinton won more than 2.5 million votes against Trump in 2016.
Trump also lost to current US President Joe Biden beat Trump by nearly 8 million votes in 2020 but the latter still claims the election was stolen by Biden. Trump lost 60 of his election protests after failing to show a single piece of evidence to back up his claim.
Trump's campaign and transition teams were accused of conspiring with Russian agents to influence the election in his favor. A report released by a Republican-led US Senate committee in 2020 concluded that Russia used Republican political operative Paul Manafort and the WikiLeaks website to try to help Trump win. Moscow denies any involvement, BBC News reported.
The report stated that no evidence of a conspiracy was found, but it did lay out instances where the president possibly obstructed justice. Trump has repeatedly claimed there was a Democratic conspiracy to undermine his presidency by suggesting his campaign had nefarious ties to Russia. Now he's putting his lawyers where his mouth is.
The lawsuit - against members of the Clinton campaign and senior FBI officials - is a decided longshot, in part because there is ample evidence of connections between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives as documented by Robert Mueller's special counsel investigation and a report by the bipartisan Senate intelligence committee.
